A. All cars must have an approved working fire extinguisher securely mounted within reach of the driver.
B. Window nets are strongly recommended but will be determined by track.
C. Aluminum Racing seat and racing seat belts are mandatory, 5 point minimum,and must be securely mounted to the cars frame. Date of MFG. must be on the belts and cannot be older than 3 years old.
D. An approved racing Helmet with a current Snell 2000 minimum rating is required.
E. A fire resistant driving suit , gloves, shoes are mandatory. H.A.N.S, Hutches or like devices are not required but HIGHLY recommended.
2. GENERAL RULES
A. No in cockpit driver controlled or electronic/remote control devices of any kind are permitted. Brake Bias adjusters allowed.
B. Traction control devices of ANY kind are strictly prohibited! Any drivers found with traction control devices will be disqualified and the devices will be confiscated!
C. No Mirrors of any kind are permitted.
D. No two way communication devices allowed! W1600Raceceivers are mandated by the series. Raceceivers will be used at ALL races! Lack of a Raceceiver in the race will get you black flagged!! The Raceceiver frequency used is 454.000, any changes will be announced at the drivers meeting! ONLY W1600 Drivers Raceceivers will be allowed! NO FAN STYLE SELF SCANNING RACECEIVERS WILL BE ALLOWED!
E. Only 1 battery per car. No batteries permitted to be located in the drivers compartment.
3. BODY RULES
A. This division is limited to 2001-2009 American manufactured stock car bodies.
B. Floor boards and fire walls must cover the drivers area and be Constructed to provide maximum safety. Fire walls made of minimum 20 gauge sheet metal or .040 aluminum and must separate the drivers compartment from the engine compartment and the fuel cell. All floor boards must extend a reasonable distance beyond the drivers seat toward the rear of the car.
C. Drivers seat must remain in the same general area as the original design of the car.
D. Windshield area to be covered by a minimum of 3 vertical bars for driver protection.
E. All surfaces must be rounded with NO sharp corners, edges or protrusions. All Corners must be rounded.
F. No wings or tunnels for aerodynamic advantages of any kind are permitted under the car.
G. All cars must have full and complete rear deck and hood. H. Spoilers are NOT allowed to be smaller or larger than there side panels when straight up. Up to 4 supports allowed. One on each end and two in between. Spoiler side support templates are up and will be enforced. I. No item or device of any kind may protrude more than 4 inches above the hood. Hood scoops are permitted but must not exceed a maximum of 4 inches in height or 18 inches in width.
J. Neatly Painted or Vinyl decal numbers at least 18 inches in height are required on each side of the car and on the roof.
K. No fins or raised lips of any kind permitted anywhere along the entire length of the car. Body line must be a smooth even line from front to rear.
L. No slope noses or wedge bodies permitted. Nose pieces must be a stock type nose piece as built by Five Star or Performance Bodies or the like. Nose pieces must be of molded plastic and mounted as not to alter the original shape.
M. Stock nose pieces may extend a maximum of 50 inches from the center of the front hub to the farthest point extending forward.
N. Front fender flare must be made of plastic and can extend past the front tire width with the wheel pointed forward and must have collapsible supports.
O. No belly pans or any type of enclosure on the bottom of the car is permitted. Skid plate to protect the oil pan is permitted at officials discretion.
P. If interior is flat through the car it must maintain a 12 inch clearance from the roll cage for easy exit from either side of the car.
4. ROOF
A. 48 inch minimum up to 52 inch maximum width
B. 40 inch to 50 inch maximum length front to rear.
5. BUMPERS
A. The horizontal centerline of the bumpers must be a minimum of 18 inches and a maximum of 20 inches from the ground.
B. If rear bumper is stubbed it may only extend a maximum of 8 inches beyond the frame. Any stubbed rear bumpers that extend 8 inches or more beyond the frame must be rounded and directed towards the front of the car 8 inches.
6. FRAMES
A. No Aluminum frames or front clips permitted in construction of the car.
B. Minimum of 103 inch wheel base + or - 1 inch tolerance.
C. Rectangular or square tube. Wheel base of all cars must be constructed of 2 inch by 2 inch minimum rectangular or square tube with a minimum of .083 inch wall thickness.
D. Round tube frame. The wheel base of all cars must be constructed of a minimum of 1 ½ inch round tubing and must have a wall thickness of .083 inch minimum.
E. Car must have suitable steel roll cage enclosing drivers area and welded to the frame. Cage must extend above the top of the drivers helmet.
F. Drivers side bars are mandatory and must extend into the door panel and include 3 horizontal bars. Each bar must be a minimum of 1 ½ inch tubing with a minimum of .095 thickness.
G. No fin shaped or foil shaped tubing or add-ons.
7. ENGINES
A. GM CRATE ENGINE 1. 602 or 604 GM crate motor only unaltered as from GM.
2. Crate engine cars are allowed a 12 inch rear spoiler.
3 All Factory sealing bolts must remain untampered with.
4. All Engines and parts must be as from factory with all components including but is not limited to harmonic balancers, valve springs, push rods, rocker arms.
6. Crate engine late models must comply with the rules of the Nesmith crate late model series.
B. SPORTSMAN/IRON LIMITED ENGINE TYPE CARS
1. Cars must run an 8 inch rear spoiler.
2. All Sportsman/Limited Late Model engine rules apply.
C. 362 ci motors
1. 362 ci max engine cars must run an 8 inch spoiler.
NO ALUMINUM BLOCKS
D. Maximum engine setback is a maximum of six inches (6") from center of ball joint to front of most forward spark plug hole.
E. There will be a 50 POUND penalty forward of the motor plate for each 1/2 inch of set back beyond 6 inches, and up to a 100 pound penalty. No cars with more than a 7 inch engine setback will be allowed to compete.
Muffler requirements will be determined by the track.
8. FUEL SYSTEMS
A. An approved fuel cell is mandatory, 32 gallon maximum. Cell must be mounted in trunk area of the car inside a 22 gauge metal box. Cell must be supported by at least 2 - 1/8th inch X 2 inch steel straps.
B. No pressurized fuel systems.
C. Gas or alcohol are the only fuels permitted. Nitrous gases or other nitrate additives are not permitted. No other fuel performance enhancing additives allowed in the fuel. If found the car will be disqualified for the event, the driver/owner will have to pay a $500 fine to the sanctioning body and 200 points will be deducted from the total.
9. TRANSMISSION/REAREND
A. Bert, Brinn or Falcon allowed. Automatics allowed. Boat and Richmond Quick change transmissions not allowed. Reverse mount bell housings allowed.
B. Car must be able to start, go into drive, move forward, stop and move into reverse and back up without shutting the engine off.
C. Transmission MUST mount to the rear of the engine and one drive shaft to the rear end. No in/out boxes.
D. Quick change rear ends mandatory. NO open tube sprint style rear ends. If a cable lock rear is used the cable must be locked and terminated outside of the drivers box and non operational.
E. If a stock style clutch is used a 360 degree steel bell housing must be used.
G. Drive shafts MUST be painted white. Steel, Aluminum or Carbon Fiber
10. WHEELS
A. Steel, Aluminum or carbon fiber allowed.
B. Wheels must be mounted with lug nuts. No knock off style wheels.
C. 14 inch maximum wheel width.
D. Maximum width outside of tires is 88 inches.
F. Steel Wheels on right side HIGHLY recommended for Asphalt race! 11. TIRES
A. Hoosier Spec D21,D55 LSB,D70,2700,WRS2andVSP4 Tires are legal as a D55 tire and American Racer SD 48 and MD 56 These are the only approved tires for the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series.
B. Tires may be checked before the start of each event of the night, Practice, Hot Laps, Heats, Qualifying, OR any Mains. Tire Punch MUST punch 48 or Harder with the Series Durometer. We will check your tires!!
You MUST run heat races on the tires you qualify on!!
C. No grinding or removing of the factory markings.
D. No tire softeners of any type. No soaking of tires, no pre-heating of Tires. No chemicals of any type in tires except oxygen or nitrogen. If found The car will be disqualified for the event, assessed a $500 fine to the sanctioning body and a loss of 200 points.
Asphalt tires will be sold by the series specifically for the race.
12. WEIGHT
A. Crate Engine cars 2250 lbs after race.
B. Sportsman/Limited Iron engine cars 2300 lbs after race
C. Sportsman/Limited Iron engine cars with approved aluminum heads 2350 lbs.
D. 362ci. engine cars 2400 lbs after the race.
E. All weights include the driver.
F. Car owner/driver will claim what engine is being used at pre-tech inspection. That will be the engine used for the remainder of the event. There will be no changes after qualifing has taken place.
G. All added weight/ballast MUST be painted white and have the car number on it. All weight/ballast MUST be securely mounted with 1 - ½ inch diameter bolt per 25lbs.
H. Any attempt to add weight in any manner to a car following the race prior to the car being weighed will result in disqualification of the car and driver and a loss of points and money for the event and a loss of 100 points.
I. 57% Maximum left side weight for asphalt race only.
13. POST RACE TECH
A. The first 3 cars and any car designated by the sanctioning body by a series official MUST report directly to the scales/tech area upon completion of the event. Failure to report directly to the scales/tech area will subject the car and driver to penalties defined here in, including but not limited to disqualification, loss of points and loss of all money for event.
14. PROTEST INSPECTION
Any car finishing in the top 5 positions are subject to tear down by any car finishing in the top 6 positions and on the same lap as the leader. Inspection fee will be $1000, if found legal the money will go to the driver being torn down minus a $50 inspection fee. If the car is found illegal by series rules the full $1000 is returned to the protesting driver and the illegal car is disqualified from the event and looses all points and money from the event and must pay a fine of $100 before being allowed to race again. Any driver found illegal will also be subject to tear down for 1 year by the series.
15. RACE PROCEDURE RULES
A. Series and Track Officials ARE NOT mechanics. If a series or track official stops you for loose metal or other reasons detrimental to racers or fans you will be allowed to restart in your original position if the problem is rectified. If not you will be sent off of the track for needed work. If YOU as a driver make a decision to stop at an official you WILL restart at the rear of the field. B. ANY car leaving the racing surface for ANY reason will restart the race at the rear of the field. C. Any driver stepping on the track surface during any portion of a race, unless leaving the vehicle due to accident,engine failure,etc.., will be disqualified from the event and loose all money and points for the event. E. Any crew member stepping onto the track surface at any time during any portion of a race will cause the driver to bedisqualified from the event and the driver will loose all money and points for the event.
Drivers YOU are responsible for the actions of your crew members!!!
RESTARTS: 1. Jumping restarts WILL NOT be tolerated no matter if you are 2nd or 22nd. A. First Offence - You will be required to drop back into position and WILL be notified to do so by Raceceiver. If you do not respond you will be black flagged. B. Second Offence - You will be send to rear of field. If you do not respond you will be black flagged. C. Third Offence - You will be black flagged and scored for last position.
16. LINE UP PROCEDURE HEATS AND QUALIFYING
QUALIFYING EVENTS: 1. Pill draws are as follows. You will be pulling for qualifying order or starting position in your heat race if no qualifing at such event. 2. You will qualify and race the heat race in the same group. 3. Provisional will be: A. The first car in series points NOT making the race. B. The fastest qualifier not making the race.
Once a Driver Signs in a car he is the ONLY one allowed to compete in that car. If a driver does NOT make the starting field, any qualified driver that suffers mechanical failure MY use a non qualified car for the feature BUT must start at the rear of the A main.DRIVERS MUST BE AT ALL DRIVERS MEETINGS OR THEY WILL START AT THE REAR OF YOUR GROUP!!!
17. FEATURE LINE UPS
A. 25-30 cars = 3 heats, top 6 transfer to A main, top 6 of B main transfer B. 31-40 cars = 4 heats, top 5 transfer to A main, top 4 of B main transfer C. 41-50 cars = 5 heats, top 4 transfer to A main, top 2 of 2 B mains transfer D. 51-60 cars = 6 heats, top 3 transfer to A main, top 4 of 2 B mains transfer E. 61-100 cars = Up to 10 heats 2 from each heat transfer, Remainder of field will transfer from up to 3 B mains
18. PROVISIONALS
Series provisionals will go to the top driver in points NOT making the main event. Only 3 Provisional starts per season per driver. Past Champions will also have 3 provisionals per season.
19. CONDUCT Drivers, you are professionals and are expected to behave in a professional manner.
1. Any physical altercation on the racetrack directed at another driver/series official/track official WILL result in Disqualification from the event including loss of all points and money for the event and possible suspension from future races and/or series events for 365 days. 2. Any driver repeatedly causing on track incedents/altercations or adding to a problem in any way will receive a verbal and or written warning from a series official. Any further incidents WILL result in Disqualification which includes loss of points and money for the event and possible suspension from future races and/or series events for 365 days.
NOTE: Asphalt races will be ONLY dirt late model chassis and must have run with the series, 4 link, swing arm and Z- link only. No 3 link,truck arm or leaf spring chassis are allowed. 57% left side weight maximum!
If it is not listed in the rules it dose NOT mean it is legal. There is NO grey area! Contact officials if you have any questions.
POINTS: All points will follow the DRIVER not the car.
ALL RULES ARE UP TO DISCRETION OF THE SERIES OFFICIALS. CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR ALTERATIONS OR ADDITIONS.
UDLMCS Officials will be making the calls on the race and there decisions will be final.
